Bookstart -- UK's national book-gifting programme
Bookstart is a national book-gifting programme for children in UK, and it's the first book-gifting programme in the world.
Bookstart is funded by government and by sponsorship from children's publishers and booksellers. It is delivered by a partnership of Library and Education Services working with Health Professionals. The arts organisation Booktrust administers Bookstart.
The ideal behind Bookstart programme is that every child should enjoy a introduction to books and benefit from books from as early an age as possible . The programme aims to give a child the very best start - a curiosity about life, an eagerness to learn, and a lifelong love of books, and to promote a lifelong love of books.

It's only possible that the programme has so many organisations taken part in and passionate support from their staff. it's backuped by government, sponsored by publishers, and delivered by library and education services and also with the helps from health professionals. UK's elementary education is free, the public library service can reach every community, and National health service is free too. Every family has a registered doctor, which is called 'family doctor'. These together make the bookstart programme possible.
